Pacific Rim Whale Festival is On!
Author: The Shore
The sleepy early spring of Tofino and Ucluelet has woken up as everyone gets out to welcome the upwards of 20,000 Grey Whales on their migration from the Baja Peninsula to Alaska’s Bering Strait. Tofino and Ucluelet celebrate with the whole week between March 6th and 14th packed with events ranging from chowder competitions and naturalist talks to whale watching expeditions and, of course, plenty of partying (check out the calendar at www.pacificrimwhalefestival.com). The Shore has become Whale Central with the Fesitival’s media room taking over a retail space on the main street side of the Shore. The space is functioning as information booth, artist’s gallery, souvenir shop and meeting space. Next door, Ocean Outfitter’s is milling with activity as people prepare to join their expert guides in Whale watching tours. It is already spring in Tofino and the place is jumping (or should I say breaching?)….
